he back-sheet consisting of PET multi-layer films plays an important role to prevent moisture from outside getting into the main-board of the solar photovoltaic system. It is considered the PET will partly experience hydrolysis or thermal decomposition in spite of using the high molecular weight to satisfy the specification for durability. However, there has been few researches into the effects of different molecular weight for PET film. Therefore, it is very important to investigate the effect of the different molecular weight for PET film for the back-sheet in order to enhance the reliability of this system. In this research, we tried to evaluate the mechanical properties of PET films by applying the accelerated deterioration test. The durability was discussed on the basis of the results of the tensile test, the FT-IR measurement, and the SEM observation.
As a result, it was found that the degradation of PET films could be estimated by measuring the strain-hardening modulus of tensile test.
