Abstract

 One of the keys to improving labor productivity is to build organizational capability which will be achieved by highly utilizing both business administration and information technology (IT). Material requirements planning (MRP) is a powerful tool that implements both the theory and practical IT of production management and thus plays a central role along with a product lifecycle management (PLM) to create values in the manufacturing industry. A next step will be to develop MRP into "smart MRP" which is capable of flexibly update schedules in response to real-time situations in the production line.

 This study was conducted with a main objective: to suggest a capable of flexibly in MRP scheduling. After to systematically review how IT and capability maturity model integration (CMMI) can be utilized in building organizational capability. Specifically, taking the production of aircraft parts as an example to discuss how production scheduling can be made more flexible by cooperation MRP and business rule management system (BRMS) into smart MRP.
