Standardization of Railway Vehicle by Product Family

Abstract

　In recent year, both standardization and the modulation are proceeding at manufacturing field. Although the standardization in manufacturing the rolling stock is over a long period of time, the modularization is yet unsolved than automobile assembling and software development. It is the reason that rolling stock is user-oriented and job order cost system. As the decrease of the railway transport volume is suspended, obsolete vehicles exchange and produce cost reduction are just required. One of above countermeasure is modularization for manufacturing. In this paper, we look back on the history of the standardization in the past rolling stock production systematically. These considerations will be useful to the modularization in the manufacturing process.
