Abstract

Transition metal compounds bearing group 14 element as the auxiliary ligands are known to show unique chemical and/or physical properties including catalytic performance. In this paper, we wish to report the synthesis transition metal complexes having organogermanium ligand by the reaction of hexaphenyldigermane with low valent nickel precursor. In the course of this reaction, insertion of the nickel species into both GeGe and Ge-Ph bonds took place to afford the corresponding mononuclear nickel complexes. Insertion of nickel species into Ge-Ge bond preferentially occurred when the reaction was conducted under higher reaction temperature.
