Abstract
Effect of inorganic-organic modification of heteropolyacid on biphenol-A (BPA) synthesis was examined. The improvement of BPA yield was not sufficient by single modification of ion-exchange or addition of thiol compounds. The inorganic-organic hybrid modification successfully improved the BPA yield up to 95% through the reduction of acid strength by ion-exchange and proton-SH interaction by fixed thiol compounds.
