Accomplishments of phase 1 of Japan's methane hydrate exploitation program

Abstract

Accomplishments of phase 1 are summarized. Original in-place of methane included in hydrate formations in the Eastern Nankai Trough area wasestimated by probabilistic method. The second on-shore production test at Canada Arctic Circle on spring, 2008, successfully produced methane from hydrate formation for six days running by depressurization method.
