Abstract

Activities of supported Ru catalysts for hydrodesulfurization (HDS) were examined. The HDS activities of supported Ru catalysts were remarkably changed by various pretreatments. Especially, 5%Ru/Al2O3 treated by calcination at 200 ºC followed by sulfidation or temperature programmed sulfidation (TPS) using 3% H2S-N2 showed high activity for HDS of thiophene. Furthermore, HDS activity of 5%Ru/SiO2 catalyst (calcined at 200 ºC) treated by TPS using 3% H2S-N2 was higher than those of 5%Ru/Al2O3 and CoMo/Al2O3 catalysts.
