Development and commercialization of a novel process for the production of propylene by olefin interconversion

Abstract

Asahi Kasei Chemicals Corporation has developed and commercialized a novel process(OMEGA process)for the production of propylene from the hydrocarbons containinig olefins at high concentration.The first commercial plant with the capacity of 50,000t/y of propylene,which uses C4 fraction from the ethylene plant as a raw material,has been started in June 2006 in Mizusima Works of Asahi Kasei chemicals and keeping its stable operation since then.
