Abstract
Preparation of 5-hydroxymethylfurfural (HMF) from biomass materials has become a research hotspot recent years. In this study, a series of ionic liquids coupling with different cations and anions were synthesized, then used as catalysts for the directly conversion of cellulose into HMF. The effect of kinds of anions and cations, and the effect of reaction conditions like temperature, time, and reactant/catalyst mole ratio etc. were investigated. A hypothetical reaction mechanism was proposed based on the experiment result.
