Abstract

The purpose of this research is to examine how conscious younger women are of their exposed legs. As stockings and socks play an important role in women's fashion, their design depends on the degree to which women are conscious of their exposed legs.

The results of a questionnaire revealed that a casual style was preferred by more than half of the respondents, while their fashion style reflected their high interest in fashion. While more than 30 % of respondents indicated that they wore miniskirts on a daily basis, roughly 80% of them did not care if those of the opposite sex looked at their exposed legs. However, they were averse to undergarments that spilled out of clothes. Moreover, since stockings and socks are inexpensive, it was clarified that they can be easily used for coordination and image-building purposes, and therefore constitute important fashion items.
