Applying the meramine paint on the surfaces of aluminum, mild steel, zinc and brass plates polished by 0, 03, and 05 sand papers, buff-polishing, and electro-polishing, the relation between the roughness of metal surface and the strength of adhesion is studied.
The results: In the case of aluminum plate, both buff-polishing and electro-polishing have no effect, while, in the case of other metals, both 0 and 03 sand paper polishings are effective for the better adhesion. A most interesting thing is that the surface buff-polished and then treated by oxidation heating is highly adhesive with the paint.
