Abstract
A natural porous material, which has siliceous shale from the Wakkanai formation, is applied for humidity control. Its isotherm shows the high capacity on both adsorption and desorption. The use of the siliceous shale as interior materials provides the effective performance on humidity control. Numerical simulation also shows the reduction of fungus generation risk in the rainy season. In the same condition on weight, increasing the area can lead to higher performance than that of the thickness. The application of such kind of interior materials for a dressing room in front of a bathroom, it can reduce condensed water up to 50 times than the use of nonhygroscopic materials in the rainy season.
