Abstract
We investigated elderly people using floor heating or air conditioner during winter, with regard to heating device, subjective evaluation of thermal environment and room temperature in living space. The results showed that: 1) Floorheating was evaluated higher both when used on its own, and when used in combination with other devices, whereas air conditiner, when used on its own, was evaluated as 'uncomfortable' and 'dissatisfactory'. 2) With regard to use of heating device, floor heating was often used on its own, whereas elderly having air conditioner, often used other heating deviceswithout using air conditioner at all.
