Abstract
We have developed Optimum Energy Saving System for HVAC. The earlier reports demonstrated that this system optimized control target values for indoor and outdoor air conditions, and operated HVAC system with minimum energy consumption. This study investigates a method for determining the optimum number of operating chillers in air-conditioning systems when applying the optimized control system. We found that the optimum number of operating chillers in the optimized control scheme is not necessarily the least number that covers the cooling load, and developed the method that determines it by conducting simulations varying the number of operating chillers.
