PEX pipe is widely used as the material of pipes for water supply including hot water. We used sample pipes that had been used in the field for approximately 15 years to examine their deterioration conditions through mechanistic diagnosis (i.e. tensile strength test, bend test, etc.) and chemical diagnosis (i.e. heat aging test). The results suggest no evidence of deterioration of the pipes for both cold and hot water. OIT shows that the coupling of hot water feed pipes had the maximum deterioration. However, it was assumed that its remaining life should be approximate 60 years.

We examined the serviceability (replacement) of the pipes used in the construction method called Header-Conduit Piping System which is widely used for plumbing (cold & hot water) in complex housing. We used sample pipes that have been used in the field for about 15 years and sample pipes which we intentionally bent to simulate long-term service, so that we could study their serviceability under the actual design and construction conditions. As a result, it required two people to replace the pipes through a repeated push-pull method and the required force was rather large.

A Siphon drainage system is the full-water flow drainage system using small diameter pipes. Because this system needs not necessarily a down slope, it has the potentiality to extend the choice of a building design. And in addition, due to the full-water flow, this system makes it easy to take solid refuses especially in disposer drainage. So, in this paper, in order to put this system to practical use, discharge characteristics and drainage performances of this system for disposers in apartment houses were examined.

NCDS is a siphon drainage system using slim pipes. We have worked on the basic studies about NCDS and the solutions of problems for practical use. It is easier that NCDS is applied to rain-drainage than other drainage, because rain-drainage contains neither oil nor solid, and doesn't need the seal water. And the building externals improve by applying NCDS that can conceal the drainpipe without influencing the floor planning. On this report, we sum the current results of our studies, and consider practical use to rain-drainage of NCDS.

Drainage flow examination is usually carried out with plastic test balls, which sometimes fail to reach the collecting point. Ne considered that this failure was caused by the bounce of test balls, and made test balls with less-bounce material. The ass-bounce balls as well as conventional plastic balls were put into a toilet on the top floor of 17-storied drainage system. Only 2% of the less-bounce balls went into branch pipes off the main pipe while about 40% of the plastic balls did, and herefore the less-bounce ball is better for drainage flow examination.

This study investigates a method for determining the optimum number of operating chillers in air-conditioning systems when applying the optimized control system. We found that the optimum number of operating chillers in the optimized control scheme is not necessarily the least number that covers the cooling load, and developed the method that determines it by conducting simulations varying the number of operating chillers.

Cogeneration is a system which supplies electricity and heat simultaneously. However, supplying different energy called electric power and heat makes proper evaluation of the efficiency of cogeneration difficult. Therefore, in the first paper, after arranging the range for evaluation and its evaluation case of cogeneration, the examination subject of an efficiency index was arranged according to four evaluation cases.

However, in the numerator of this index, it is pointed out that it is not suitable to add electric power and heat simply. Therefore, the evaluation index which carries out equivalent conversion of the heat energy to the electrical energy is proposed. In the second paper, while proposingTotal power and heat efficiency equivalent to power output as the evaluation index, the trial calculation was made.

Tokyo Gas has commercialized 1kW-class PEFC residential Co-generation systems. As of 30^<th> March 2007, 310 PEFC Co-generation systems have been already used in actual households by Tokyo Gas's FC partnership customers. This paper explains how the systems work and summarized the annual performance of 117 systems which have been operated for more than a year in Tokyo area. It is found that PEFC Co-generation system can reduce primary energy consumption of households by not only high performances of PEFC with itself but also operation control algorithm called "Tokyo Gas Intelligent Control".

Three leaves type baffle plate attached at the inlet of the sub-chamber of the temporary ice storage tank and new method of drawing ice/water mixture from the temporary ice storage tank by shaving ice mass were proposed and their performances were examined in this paper. Under examined conditions, proposed baffle plate prevents inflow of ice to the sub-chamber of the temporary ice storage tank and does not interfere drawing ice from the temporary ice storage tank. IPF of drawing ice /water mixture increased with the increase of rotational speed of shaving board and decrease drastically with the decrease of ice mass remained in the temporary ice storage tank. Furthermore power of motor driving shaving board is larger than that rotating ice mass of the previous method, but total power to draw ice/water mixture consumed in the proposed method is less than that in the previous method.
