North America has been the major producer for molybdenum resource in the past, yet recently China became important because of new discoveries with Yanshanian granitoids in the NE China, among which two deposits were visited. The Luming deposits (1 million tons Mo metal, 0.088 % Mo, ore grade) occur as mainly stockworking in granitic cupola among the Triassic magnetite-series granitoids. The Chalukou deposits as the largest in China (1.34 million tons Mo metal, 0.08% Mo, ore grade), occur in Devonian volcanics intruded by Yanshanian magnetite-series (?) granitoids, as dissemination and stockworking. Some ores are hosted in cryptoexplosive breccia. Purple fluorite is common but no workable amounts of W and Sn minerals. The north China becomes surely important in the coming future.
