The ore deposits in the northern part of the Aizu Basin, which occur in"green tuff"related to the Tertiary volcanic activities, are divided into two types; one is veins and networks in the lower formation, and the other is massive ore bodies in the upper. In spite of some differences among the ore and gangue minerals, these deposits are regarded to belong to the so-called "Black-ore(Kuroko) deposits", judging from the mineral components and the form of the deposits.
