Lead and zinc ore bodies of the Yeonhwa mine occur in limestone beds of the Pungcheon and the Myobong Formations in the Joseon System of Cambro-Ordovician age.
The relation between ore deposition and tectonic movements is investigated from the point of statistical analyses of the fault and minor fracture patterns of the area. It is inferred that there were two stress conditions under different tectonic movements, one of which was tha compression from north or northeast, and the other was an uplift movement of fault blocks. The uplift movement was accompanied by a series of dike intrusives, and the ore deposition occurred simultaneously. Thus, the location of ore bodies is closely related with the distribution of dike intrusives.
Forms of ore bodies were controlled by the stratigraphic horizon of country rocks. The stratigraphic control of ore bodies might have been due to the stress conditions and the physical property of country rocks at the time of uplift movement.
