The modulus of elasticity for bending stress of wire ropes Eb', was measured by means of the carbon-strip electric-resistance strain gauge, sticked to the surface of wire of the rope. It was made clear that values of Eb' vary as the contact angle of the wire rope along the sheave, and as the wire diameter-sheave diameter ratio d/D. Standard values of Eb' of some typical construction were cbmpared to the tensile modulus of elasticity Ew and the modulus of elasticity for bending rigidity Ef.
