The automatic control of mine pumps has been studied at various mines in Japan as one of the means of rationalizatiton of mining operation. At our Makimine Mine also, we designed. after close studies “an automatic valve operated by water pressure”. Applying the automatic valve since May 1950, the rationalization of pumping operation was rapidly proceeded and. successfully completed in May.1953.
Now 20 sets of pumps-11 sets driven by 3, 300 V motors and 9 sets driven by 220 V motors.-are automatically operated in the centralized controlling room, it requires only 7 men to inspect pumps at each position as well as at controlling room instead of more than 30 in former times.
