抄録

(1) The Van der Waals (London) force or the dispersion force was suggested as the principal force interacting between minerals and bubbles from the two following experiments; There exists clear parallelism between the attachment of minerals to air bubble and oil droplet.(1) The bubbles of different gases produce the difference in the attachment corresponding to the molecular force (the dispersion force) of each gas.(2) From the reverse attachment tests, it was shown that the mineral particle, just similar to the surface-active agents, had the polar-non polar structure. This suggests that the polar (hydrophilic) part of mineral plays some important role in the floating phenomenon, as well as the non-ploar (hydrophobic) part.
