Most of the wire ropes which are used in coal mine are 6 strands 7 wires ropes and which are used in metal mine are 6 strands 19 wires ropes. To the deterioration of the former I have already published, so in this paper I will state the method for deducing the breaking strength of the latter and its example.
In this method too, the forms of deterioration of wire ropes are classified into the following five items:
A: Abrasion, B: Broken wire, C: Corrosion, D: Deformation, E: Eccentricity etc, Deducing the percentage loss of strength individually for each items, then sum up and determine the loss of strength of this deteriorated wire rope.
This method can be applied fo 6 strands 19 wires Lang's fay ropes, which originally comply in all respects with Japanese Industrial Standard (i.e. JIS) with proper central core.
It is confirmed by testing the deteriorated ropes that this method is more accurate than the deducion by feeling which was being used up to now.
