Chemical prospecting for uranium deposits has systematically started with the establishment of the Atomic Fuel Corporation, as one of its business.
As the determining samples, tributary water, soils, rocks and vegetables, etc. are all used. As detecting methods, two methods called direct and indirect methods respectively are practised. The former is to determine the uranium itself by the fluorometry or the paper chromatography, while the other is to detect the uranium deposits by way of determing the other elements by the other analytical methods.
As to the survey ways, three ways; i. e.(A) general survey, (B) detailed survey, (C) work which cooperates with other prospecting methods, are used.
Among them, (B) includes its original detailed survey, checking of trench portion, and the survey combining electrical prospecting and chemical prospecting.
Showing the several examples of such prospecting as above which had been carried out in the Ningyo Pass Mine Area, and based upon its result, it is described that the chemical prospecting method is superior in various respects comparing with the radiometric survey which has so far been in use as prospecting method of uranium.
