Abstract

It was examined to encapsulate a pigment which indicated temperature change as reversible color change and was suspended in an organic solvent with a polymer. Encapsulation of the pigment with polymer was performed by use of the drying-in solvent method.
It was experimentally investigated how the preparation conditions affected such several properties of capsules as size distribution, mean size, rate of pigment contained in capsule, formation rate.
As a result, an expression correlating mean size with the preparation conditions was derived.
From observation by the microphotograph of capsule, capsules were found to be perfect sphere and the quality of dispersing situation of pigment in base polymer was able to estimate.
Furthermore, durability of reversible color change of capsule was found to be extremely satisfactory.
