Abstract
Similarities of character 12 traits between a mother and a child were evaluated by new
personality inventory. A mother was asked to rate her own character traits and to rate her
child who attends kindergarten. Data from 15 sets of the inventory for mother and child were
analyzed. Four traits of ‘activity’, ‘depressive’, ‘neurotic’, ‘non-cooperative’ have each highly
significant similarity between mother-child and intra-class correlation. And ‘aggressive’, ’
sympathetic’, ‘persistent’ have significant similarity and the correlation. Those seven traits are
important as the fundamental traits or temperamental ones. Residual 5 traits of ‘social extravert’,
‘initiative’, ‘disciplined’, ‘egocentric’, and ‘inferiority-complex’ have no-significant similarity
and the correlation. It must be stressed that the data from father-child of the same set in the
present study are needed for further analysis of temperamental traits or inheritable aspects of
personality. The researches as to the reality of formation and development of behavior included
in the inventory are far more important for the personality study in psychology.
