Since 1996 of its foundation, OPC (OLE for Process Control) has released various kinds of specifications including Process Data Access Specification (DA), Alarm and Event (A&E), Historical Data Access (HDA), and Batch. Now the control system vendors of process automation (PA) and factory automation (FA) and the software providers in the third party around the world are providing a great number of products that meet the OPC standard so that we can say OPC technology became an industrial standard of software interface of process control system. However, OPC foundation is not satisfied with it but still seeking a new field. In this thesis, I would like to introduce the specifications of OPC Data eXchange (DX) and OPC-XML that are now under development.
