Recently, infrared gas analyzer has reached the state of practical use, but it is still poor in reliability for measuremet in low concentration range below several hundred ppm. Having made big effort, the authors have constructed an analyzer which seems to be most suitable for the above mentioned measurement. It employs a single source double beam optical null method. Its detector is an acoustic resonator, which is 100% filled with measured gas, and infrared source cell is as shown in Fig. 1. As an example of its performance, it shows an accuracy of ±5ppm in a 0 to several hundred ppm range concentration measurement of CO2 contained in N2. This article describes its principle, construction and performance.
