Abstract
“Teleonomy” is a name of arguments in which phenomena primarily explained by causality are interpreted as goal-directed processes. In this paper, teleonomy of nonlinear phenomenological models are discussed. The phenomenological models are interpreted as computing models for optimization problems. First, three types of computing models solving problems with inequality constraints, whose trajectories are conjugate each other, are proposed and the proposed models are expanded into models with inertial dynamics for global optimization and models solving problems with equality and inequality constraints. Then, standard phenomenological models in the field of ecology, neural networks and population genetics are interpreted as the proposed computing models.
