The parasitoid fly Ormia Ochracea shows a remarkable ability to localize a sound source although the interaural differences in intensity and time are extremely small. In this paper, mimicking unique structures of its auditory organ, we propose a micro sound source localization sensor using a gimbal diaphragm, which realizes a simple and optimal transduction mechanism for detecting a tiny pressure gradient. We made a prototype from a thin metal plate and confirmed that it works as a sound source localization sensor by experiments.
