A filter for enhancement of intravascular ultrasound images is proposed. This filter performs this task in two phases: first a pre-processing based on morphological smoothing and then a fuzzy enhancement is done on the basis of the intensity and variance of input images. Results have shown that this technique is useful to facilitate the segmentation of ROIs in IVUS images.
