Abstract
This paper treats a partial decoupling problem of an m-inputs p-outputs (p≥m) linear multivariable system. An output feedback with a constant gain matrix is used in transforming the original p×m transfer function matrix to a block diagonal matrix whose first r×r (r< m) block is diagonal and nonsingular.
Necessary and sufficient conditions for the partial decoupling are derived. The natures of the feedback matrix are analysed and an example is included to illustrate the design procedure.
