Abstract
One nest-building activity of an introduced species, Urocissa erythrorhyncha, was observed. The nest was abandoned before completion. Parameters of the nest (size and height) and nest site selection (nest height from the ground, tree species used for nest building, diameter at breast height of the nest tree, vegetation, and distance to road and to the nearest water source) were measured. Those values roughly overlapped with those reported in China. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first report on nests and nest parameters of U. erythrorhyncha in Japan.
