A diodontid fish Cyclichys spilostylus (Leis and Randall, 1982) is reported for the first time from Kochi Prefecture on the basis of a single specimen (245.3mm in standard length) obtained at Mimase fish market in Kochi City. This specimen also represents the northernmost record of this species on the Pacific coast of Japan. A brief description including coloration and photograph is given.
