Abstract
A ten-year-old girl visited our department for a 2-month history of alopecia and itching. She had been treated with topical steroids in other dermatological clinics. We diagnosed the eruptions as kerion celsi due to Microsporum canis on the basis of findings of mycotic cultures and the results of polymerase chain reaction and direct sequencing for internal transcribed spacer 1 of ribosomal DNA. Itraconazole pulse therapy three times resulted in cure of the lesions with no significant side effects.Skin Research, 13: 431-434, 2014
