Abstract

A 60-year-old man, first visit on June 8, 1980, was given intramuscular injection ofribostamycin (Vistamycin (R)) for otitis media.Then he had erythematous eruptions on thesun-exposed areas. Patch test and intracutaneoustest were carried out with several kinds ofaminoglycosides.
Patch tests showed positive reactions withribostamycin, streptomycin, kanamycin, amikacinand fradiomycin.
Intracutaneous tests showed positive reactionswith ribostamycin and kanamycin.
Drug eruptions due to aminoglycosides are notcommon, especially due to ribostamycin is veryrare. In the Japanese literature, there havebeen six reports (seven cases) on this subject.
