Abstract
Clinical effects of coix seed extract drug (Yokuinin) were studied in 15 patients with molluscum contagiosum.
The patients were all children (from one to six years old), and four doses of 9 tablets/day, 12 tablets/day, 4.0 g powder/day and 6. 0 g powder/day were dispensed. Yokuinin is contained 2. 0 g (weight ratio 1/3) in 6. 0 g powder and contained 1. 0 g in 9 tablets.
The effectiveness against molluscum contagiosum was remarkable effective in 4, moderate effective in 4, slight effective in 4, and the effective rate including both remarkable and moderate effectiveness was 53. 3 percent (8/15 patients).
No side effects were observed in any cases.
It was concluded that coix seed extract drug was useful on molluscum contagiosum.
More-over, it was supposed that coix seed extract drug with Makyo-yokukan-tO was more effective on molluscum contagiosum.
