Abstract
A case of herpetiform pemphigus in a 48-year-old female is reported. Since about one month, pruritic and erythematous plaques have been gradually developed on her trunk and extremities. Some vesicular and pustular eruptions were found on the border of erythematous plaques. A biopsy specimen from the vesicular lesion showed eosinophilic spongiosis and intraepidermal bullae with acantholytic cells and/or eosinophils. Direct immunofluorescence studies revealed deposits of IgG and IgA in the intercellular space and IgA linearly at the dermoepidermal junction. This case was diagnosed as herpetiform pemphigus and treated with prednisolone. The literatures reported hitherto as herpetiform pemphigus are reviewed and discussed.
