Abstract
A 11-year-old boy developed a firm, elevated, small nodule on the sole. Histopathological examination of the lesion showed that a fibrotic unencapsulated nodule occured under the hyperkeratotic and acanthotic epidermis. The area of fibrosis was composed of interlacing bundles of collagen and spindle-shaped fibroblasts. Elastic fiber of the nodule was negative-stained. This is the typical histopathological feature of reactive nodular hyperplasia of hands and oral mucosa reported by Saylan et al. However, Saylan and the other authers have been reported that reactive nodular hyperplasia is commomly seen on hands or oral mucosa. This report is the first case of reactive nodular hyperplasia developed on the sole.
