Abstract
NOV® UV STICK (a new sunscreen product, SPF50 PA+++) was applied to total 48 cases with photosensitive diseases and dermatologic diseases at Department of Dermatology, Kobe University School of Medicine (Kobe, Japan) during Apr.-Jul., 2000.
This sunscreen product possesses protective effect of SPF50, PA+++ with the ingredient of super-fine titanium dioxide as ultraviolet reflactant, but not of ultraviolet absorbers, and further contains d-δ-tocopherol which inhibits free radical formation.
Ultraviolet-exposed skin area was observed during 4-week application of this product after informed consents were obtained.
Its safety rate in total 48 cases was 97.9% with the utility rate in 42 cases of photosensitive diseases being 100.0%. No side effect was observed among all 48 cases tested.
These results indicate that NOV® UV STICK is a highly safe and efficient sunscreen recommended for photosensitive diseases and other skin diseases such as atopic dermatitis to protect their skin from ultraviolet irradiation.
