Abstract
Nonverbal communication is playing a very important role in face-to-face conversation. Gesture is one of the most
important nonverbal information. In order to perform negotiations smoothly, we added the avatar's gesture function to support an online mediation system, which enables a user to perform several common gestures using the Wii Remote Controller during the negotiations. We developed a communication module to transfer Wii data from Wii Remote Controller to the computer. We manually made several rules for gesture recognition and evaluated the rule's precision with a set of experiments.After four kinds of comparison experiments in different situation,we verified that the gestures brought some effects to the negotiations with certainty.
