Abstract
This paper proposes a BBS system equipped with visual representation, which is designed for supporting community anticrime actions including the creation of community safety map and group discussion about anticrime actions. In recent years, many crimes targeting children have been occurring everywhere, and the importance of community anticrime actions including anticrime patrols and safety map creation has increased. Community anticrime actions can be viewed as collaboration activities in our daily lives, for which both the support of the activity of each group and that of collaboration between different groups is required. The proposed system supports both the creation of community safety map by children, which is the education of crime prevention, and discussion about anticrime actions by community residents. In addition, the collaboration between both groups is considered by utilizing the resultant community safety map as the context of the discussion. The proposed system was actually used in the class of an elementary school, based on which the system is evaluated. The results show the system is effective for children to acquire the criteria for judging dangerous spots, as well as for discussion participants to share context.
