Labeling connected components in a binary image
is one of the most fundamental operations in image processing,
pattern recognition (analysis), and computer (robot) vision.
This paper reviews principles of various connected-component
labeling algorithms, introduces their latest developments, and
shows the corresponding experimental results on various kinds
of images.
