In this paper, we propose a method for
determining class borders. The method approxi-
mates the borders on a SOM from nearest neighbor
data set of different classes. The method decides the
border on the SOM using the characteristics of the
SOM which can map a high dimensional data set to a
low dimensional map which is 2 or 3 dimensions.
Using iris data set and the wine data set, it is
shown that the proposed method can improve the
accuracy of cluster analysis. The method allows the
class borders to be visualized accurately and com-
prehensible. The advantages were successfully dem-
onstrated using two examples which contain the class
borders that are really difficult to depict.
