Abstract
The unified model of the scattering amplitude for ;π^±p, K^±p, pp and p^^-p reactions is explicitly constructed based on a simple s-channel geometrical-optical view. Using total cross section and total elastic cross section only, this model gives correctly the optical point, slope, first dip position, secondary maximum position, shrinkage or antishrinkage of the slope, shrinkage of the secondary maximum and cross over effect of the elastic differential cross sections. At the high energy limit, this model gives the exponential form for the elastic differential cross sections. Based on this model the explicit helicity amplitudes for 5 GeV/c πp scattering are given in the forward region. Comparison with Harari's dual absorptive model is done.
