Abstract
In this paper, specificationology, i.e. specification research is introduced. First, we have a glimpse of the structure that specificationology complements project management similarly to the case project management complements Cleanroom software development. Next returning to the fundamentals that requirements and specifications occur, we consider the background where we need specificationology. Considering the characteristics of three levels of technology (the world's three eras) based on the differences of their influences people affect the world technically, we recognize that we need specificationology in the era of information network. Then we define specificationology and show the range it applies. Also we show the three characteristics of specificationology and its relation to project management. Modern themes of various areas, themes in long range, and some considerations are also shown.
