Abstract
There are many concepts of categorization in innovation. However, since innovation has specific characteristics, we have to consider specials factors other than a product's quality, price, and market. For example, a system integrator (SI) performs important roles in total coordination when system configuration is required. Without these kinds of roles, these types of products cannot be diffused. One of the roles of project management is implementing those kinds of systems In the solar power generation (photovoltaic) industry, which has been diffused in the past few years, we usually see efficiency, durability, and price, but a PV system integrator performs very important roles in providing the best solutions between PV modules, device manufacturers, and independent power producers. The same kinds of roles are necessary and critical in the case of IT system implementation and the smart grid/smart city plan, which will be diffused in the near future. Also, a PV system integrator has to face several movements of integration and new entry. This paper describes and analyzes the role and importance of PV system integrators.
