Abstract
Information system development projects have been reported to be unsuccessful by some surveys. Though some major approaches, including the project management method, have been introduced, there is no significant improvement. In this paper, the support activities of the project sponsors to the projects would be focused, who have been rarely considered as inside of the scope of the project managers' key responsibilities. First of all, backgrounds why the support activities of the project sponsors are becoming increasingly important for the changes in the projects, particularly in the ISO21500, are investigated. Additionally, some of the most effective support activities for the project sponsors to succeed projects are identified through case studies, and some considerations in order to elicit those activities more absolutely are discussed.
