The purpose of this study is to clarify the process of recovery of sporting goods manufacturers in postwar Japan, by surveying the accounts of the trade paper "Nihon Undogu Sinpo". The following conclusions were made; 1.The problem of the sporting goods manufacturers after the war was to get production materials under the controlled economy. They instituted some unions to discontinue the controlled economy and sales tax. 2.After the discontinuance of the controlled economy, they promoted their innovations and set up their products. The unions worked together to discontinue the sales tax from the view point of the popularization of sport. 3.The sporting goods manufacturers recovered by the beginning of 1956.They influenced the sports politics in postwar Japan in the process of their recovery.
