Abstract
New recycling process of FRP mortar (FRPM) pipes has been proposed and applied for recycling of waste FRPM pipes. Waste FRPM pipes were crushed by a rotary hammer type crusher. As a result, the fractures were almost separated to mortar parts and FRP parts.
The collected mortar parts are expected to be reused for FRPM pipes. On the other hand, FRP parts were chopped by a cutter mill. The chopped FRP chips were effectively separated to glass fibers and matrix resin particles by an attrition type milling. The separated glass fibers kept their own structure without significant breakage. The separated particles and fibers were coated with nanoparticle porous layer. The coated particles were then pressed to make bulk body. As a result, the bulk body showed very light weight and low thermal conductivity at room temperature. It is expected to be used as thermal insulation materials.
