Abstract
Four forms (forms A, B, C and D) of cimetidine polymorphs were prepared by different precipitation methods. Physicochemical properties and stability of the four forms were investigated using FT-IR, FT-Raman, PXRD, DSC, single crystal X-ray diffractometry and SEM. It was found that forms A, B, C and D showed different crystal structures, particle morphologies and solubility. Forms A and C were transformed to form B after suspending in water at 40℃. On the other hand, forms B and D did not show any morphological change. Forms A, B and C reduced their crystallinities and transformed to form D during grinding at 1800 rpm. However, form D did not show any transformation although its crystallinity was reduced.
